Open Raven

The Open Raven Documentation Site

Welcome to the Open Raven Documentation Site. You'll find comprehensive guides and documentation to help you start working with Open Raven as quickly as possible, as well as support if you get stuck. Let's jump right in.

Data Classes

Data Classes are what Open Raven looks for during a Data Scan. A Data Class is a type of sensitive data, such as:

  • Name
  • Mailing address
  • Social security number
  • SSH key
  • Credit card number.

Open Raven comes with a number of Default Data Classes (which you'll find under "Configuration") for common sensitive data types. You can also create custom Data Classes by specifying a match pattern, neighboring keywords, and any exclusions.

Each Data Class has a name and description and is associated with a specific reference ID (e.g., CRD-100 for SSH Keys). Note that reference IDs are unique. You can create a Data Class for immediate use and deactivate it later by specifying its Status.

To see the full list of Default Data Classes that ship with Open Raven, go to our Default Data Classes page.
