Visualize and Create Backups

Open Raven can visualize Assets that are part of a backup plan and that have been either:

  • Backed up in the last 30 days.
  • Not backed up in the last 30 days.

Assets that are part of a backup plan and have been backed up in the last 30 days have a blue backup icon.

Assets that are part of a backup plan but have not been backed up in the last 30 days have a grey backup icon.

To learn more about an up Asset, click on the backup icon.

This will bring up a properties tab for the Asset. Click on Backups on the right side of this tab to see:

  • When the Asset was last backed up
  • The backup plan the Asset is part of
  • The frequency with which the Asset has been backed up.

If you click on the Plan ID, you will be redirected to the the AWS Console where you can learn more about the backup plan currently applied to the asset.

You can also see all the Backup Jobs and their status by clicking on Backup Jobs.

Adding an Asset to a Backup Plan

To add an Asset to a Backup Plan, click on the Asset and click on Add to Backup Plan in the top right.

Then, choose the backup plan you want to add the Asset to and select the appropriate tags. Click Add Tag and confirm backup by clicking on Add to Backup Plan.

If a Backup Plan you choose to apply to an Asset shares tags with another Backup Plan, the Asset will be added to both Backup Plans. However, you will first need to confirm this by clicking Add to Backup Plan.

When an Asset is added to a Backup Plan, you will get a confirmation message in the top right.

Note that back in Maps view, it may take a while for the grey backup icon to change to a blue backup icon.

Filtering by Backups

Want to only view Assets that have been backed up? In the upper right corner of the "Maps" page, we provide a convenient filter that lets you do just that.
